About Us

Student Community Standards (SCS) supports a safe, respectful, and values-driven community at OSU. Guided by our vision, mission, and philosophy, we believe students grow best through both high care and high accountability. Our work helps students reflect on their choices, learn from challenges, and strengthen their values, so they can positively impact the OSU community and beyond.

Vision

Wherever members of Beaver Nation go, they are empowered to live into their values and make a positive impact on the world around them. Whenever members of Beaver Nation fail to live within their values, they are prepared and intentional in their efforts to restore any harm they have caused and persist in their efforts to be values-based leaders.

Mission

Student Community Standards partners with students, faculty, and staff to advance OSU's community standards in all living, learning, and work environments. We foster fair, equitable, and student-centered learning opportunities that prepare students to positively impact their communities and the world.

Philosophy

Philosophy: The work of Oregon State University’s Office of Student Community Standards (SCS) is rooted in the belief that students grow through high care and high accountability. In order to cultivate and maintain a campus community where all members can thrive, SCS is committed to helping students, faculty, and staff uphold the obligations we have to each other, which are rooted in our shared values. Our processes are both intentional and fundamentally educational in nature, seeking to center principles of social, restorative, transformative, and procedural justice. As educators, SCS provides developmentally appropriate opportunities for students to positively impact the campus community, our region, and our world.
